Need some help and advice. On my 87 the speedometer started acting squirelly. It would jump from 15-55, 0-60 while driving down the road. At first this seemed to be the only problem and most everyone thought it was the speed sensor. I didn't do anything about fixing it because of time constraints etc. Last week I took the car out and find that the tach is now acting the same way. Drove the car last nite and both the tach and speedometer are reading zero. Tried switching the gauges to their other functions and nothing changes. Whats anybodies thoughts? New cluster time? If it is the cluster, need some advice as to where to get this one fixed or where to purchase another. Thanks for any and all help and advice.

Before you start spending money on the cluster itself...it might be worthwile to inspect connections first. Check the connectors to the cluster, and the cluster ground points (those have been known to cause problems). I'm not sure if the '87 is the same....but the '84 has two cluster grounds, one at the pass. side door hinge pillar, and one that's either on a trans. bell housing bolt or rear of the cylinder head on the driver's side (I believe it's the trans bolt). Check both of those for a good ground connection.

so i guess my 1986 would have the same grounds too. and would make sense since my vette dosen't like rain, and we had a really bad strom the day before my dash went totally black???
