Day's Cruisin' and Rear Hatch Vent Question

I ordered one from corvettegadgetman Friday.

I am the first customer from the Netherlands :D :D :D
and maybe even the first European customer.

Will do some advertising overhere and sell some of those.

Got mine yesterday from Gadgetman. Can't wait until the weekend so I can try it out!

I ordered one from Gadgetman today. (4/19) Probably take a couple of weeks to get here.

Hey ZumZum, I'm in St. Louis, MO and got mine in six days. I would imagine similar results for you too!

Hey KREX,

Thanks for the heads up on that. The sooner the better cause the weather has really been nice for top off cruising. Where did you get your screen name from? I asking cause my first name is Rex. LOL

Go Cards! Beat those Cubs tonight!

It's a combination of my first name (Kurtis) and my middle (Rex). Originally (like 10-15 years ago), it was a play on T-Rex (dinosaur). Somehow it stuck.

As it was my grandfather's first name, I had the honor of getting it as my middle.

Got mine today( delivered at work address Saturday).

It was shipped monday 18th of April.

Iternational shipping in less than a week :D

I will try it tonight when driving home from work.

I received an emial from gadgetman over the weekend saying the vent was shipped on the 20th (Wed.). So hopefully it will make it here this week. Of course now the weather has turned cold again!

Mine did the same thing, then I replaced the window struts, now there is no noise from rough roads or railroad tracks. Good Luck......Jim R

I received my EZ Vent from the gadgetman today (4/26). Great service. Looks like a good product. Now I just need the weather to warm up and dry out so I can give it a try.

New news. I have gotten really PO'd at the twist on model that I have. Its very loosey-goosey and I have a hard time getting the latch to set right, and the switch "depth" adjusted right.

So, I ordered from gadgetman, like I should have in the first place. Now to see if I can return the old piece of s**t.

Bob

I love the gadgetman unit. Even though it screws on, its easy, or even easier, than the twist on unit that I had, and much more stable.

Been doing a lot of cruising with the top off lately - thank you gadgetman!

My only concern would be that the window is no longer supported along the entire edge where it sits on the vehicle - only by the latch that is attached to the 'gadget' - would that single point put more stress on the glass and possible cause it to break due to extra flexing and bouncing?

That has been discussed, but with no conclusion that I know of. On the other hand, that kind of failure has never been reported. So, you pays your money, you takes your choice.

Not here to debate the issue of which one is better as I have only ever used the “Quick Release” Hatch Vent from MAD. I just wish to offer a positive testimonial on this C4 hatch vent. I’ve had mine seven years and while it took about 20 minutes in the beginning for me to adjust it properly so that the car alarm would not go off at the wrong times and the interior lights would go (stay) off at the right times, I have never adjusted it since. I drive the car all year long and the top is almost never on, even in the winter (cannot beat San Diego weather). Months at a time go by with the hatch vent on continuously and I have no complaints.

I do occasionally get some rattle, but I believe it is coming from nearly 10 year old window struts as jr7221 mentioned above. One of these days, maybe I will replace those, but until then I will keep using the hatch vent without worry. What a “cool” (looking and working) aftermarket accessory; one of my favorites so far.

As for the appearance of the car when it is on, I think it looks cool.

Regardless of which version people decide to get, I highly recommend getting one of them as it really improves the quality of the ride. Good Luck.

Used mine on the C5 this weekend for two runs of the Lizard in South MS.
Worked like a charm. We hit the twisties with ease and hardly any body flex, and the straight aways had tripple digits on the spedometer and the wind just blew right on thru the car without a care in the world.

Love em!
Rain

Hey, Rain. Glad you enjoyed it. My wife and I went out for about an hour with ours today, very nice ride. But it is flat as a board here at the NC beach - no lizards for us!

Bob

If your struts are a little weak, there is a rattling noise, mine did the same thing until I replaced the window struts, no rattling...
