Daytona 500

So what do you think......did Jr. take Vickers out on purpose?

Intentional or not, it needs to happen a few more times like that to people blocking instead of racing and maybe they'll start to think twice about doing it...think back to the thursday race with bush running mark martin up into the wall on the last lap...mark should have just dumped him and went on to win but he's too nice of a guy. NASCAR needs to hand out penalties for obvious blocking when someone has a big run at another car.

On purpose or accident, Vickers got what he deserved for driving like he did.

I bet Sr. is giving Jr. :thumb and :D from ear to ear and saying "That's my Boy" get'r done :beer

I'm all for JR and Vickers beating each other's car to bits but when you take out a bunch of other cars then that sucks.
If I were NASCAR I'd put Junior on vacation for about 2 or 3 races. What Vickers did was perfectly legal in the eyes of NASCAR. What Junior did...taking out all those cars, screwed many teams that had worked their asses off to get where they were. BUT he's Junior so nothing will probably happen to him.

I don't see where Jr is any more at fault that Vickers, Vickers went to block him, Jr got into him trying to stay on the legal racing surface. Theres no rule that says if another car turns into you, you're required to slow down and give them the spot on the track. Thats going to be a touchy area to start trying to police when/if nascar decides to start handing out penalties based on what they think the drivers are thinking. I guess they could start calling Dione Warwicks psychic hotline to have them read the drivers minds. lol Or they could just start letting the drivers settle it like they did after the race with Cale and Donny years ago. If a driver thinks trying to block the guy behind him is going to get him sent into the wall, then he's going to think twice about it and since I doubt nascar will do anything about blocking, that's the only way it's going to get slowed down. If they start penalizing the driver who gets blocked but decides not to give up the spot, then daytona and talladega will become so insanely boring to watch it'll be unreal...it'll be like watching 500 miles of cars going around the track like they're still running the pace lap.

I thought they called the race pretty fast, the radar they showed earlier didn't look to bad to me. Poor Tony, I think if the race had gone the distance he would have at least finished in the top 5. How funny was that tape of Darryl Waltrip doing that goofy dance when he won?

I agree ,I think Tony would have finshed better than 8th.

Then there is Jr. ,I think out of frustration he took Vickers out along with a good number of cars .In Nascar 's eyes Jr. does no wrong . (you'd never see Tony do such a stunt ;LOL)

D.W just grinds on my.I rather have Kyle Petty anyday.

On short tracks there is all sorts of bumping and banging going on and no one says much of anything. But when a little bump occurs on a superspeedway it becomes this major thing that it was intentional and so on. Vickers defended his position on the track, Jr was defending his spot in the track, and for the rest its all part of the sport. "Rubbing is racing" ~ Days of Thunder

Days of thunder...seeing Tom Cruise there and driving the pace car almost ruined the day for me. I dislike that man and his views on things.

According to a reliable whitness to the filming of "Days of Thunder" top track speed was no more than 75mph during filming.Tom is a little off the wall on his social views.;)

I'm glad I'm not the only one that had that feeling!!!

Tom Cruise being "a little off the wall" is like saying Junkie's corn water has "a little bit of a kick to it"...the guy's a total whacko (Tom that is, not Junkie :D). I keep waiting on him to show up on Opra wearing a tin foil hat and wanting to enlighten the nation on his wonderful trip getting to go visit the mothership.

I think if it had gone all the way we'd have had a Chevy in the winners circle!

What difference does it make? The only thing "chevy" on those cars are the Impalla SS decals and headlight stickers.

Since none of the 4 companies that have their headlight decals plastered on the COT's, sell a pushrod, carbed 358 Cu In V8, it is very hard for anyone to tell me there is an actual difference between "brands".

Nascar is a joke.
