Help! Decisions decisions

Always follow your heart.

It's the brain's job to be your XO - it's his purpose to make happen whatever the heart wants to happen, and not the other way around.

As for enter/exit issues: I'm short but old and creaky with missing foot parts.
To enter I face away from the open doorway, point my butt toward the seat and slowly kind of fall in then swing in my feets.

To exit I swing my feets out first then push my self up, up and away using the siderails for support.
Do not use the wheel for support, it will break.

You should have no problem finding a good Corvette for $10,000.
This forum is a great place to find a local expert who can check any prospective purchase out. Personally I'd first look for a Vette that needs no body or interior work - that be very costly. When you do find vehicles that get your heart pumping - then get the mechanicals checked out.

All generations have their good points as well as their bad points, and the people on this forum have lived thru most, if not all, of them. Find one you like, that fits within your budget, and have a ball with it. I would suggest finding (and maybe joining) a local Corvette club so that you can take advantage of their knowledge.......like who knows what about which "problem", what shops to stay away from, what shops do good work, what shops specialize in motors, or frames, or interiors and so on, as well as getting the opportunity to meet some really great people and to participate in some of the fun things that clubs do. Whatever year Vette you finally decide on, just enjoy the heck out of it! Repairs are "facts of life" with EVERY automobile, Corvettes included, so don't let that stop you from getting and enjoying one, or two, or three.........they're addictive! And whatever you do......put aside some money to purchase a set of the factory service manuals for the year Vette that you buy. It's money well spent!

Thank You!

I would just like to express my thanks and sincere gratitude to all that have so far replied to my post. I appreciate your honesty and most of all your encouragement. This, honestly, feels like a big family gathering. So, again, thank you all. It's really nice to be a part of this group. :pat

Andy, thanks for the reply. I appreciate your words and beyond that, your service to our country. My wife and I are both Gulf War veterans--she USN and me USAF.

Proud to have served,

Decisions no more!

Just a note of thanks to all of you that replied to this post. I appreciate your encouragement and enthusiasm. Decisions no more...I am a very proud owner of a '96 Arctic White coupe in great condition. Have had it for about 10 days. No problems. Made the trip to Bowling Green this past weekend for our first pilgrimage to Corvette Mecca. I was nothing short of great. So thanks to all again and I hope to see you at a few of the events.

Congradulations on the new ride, enjoy it in peace and safety!!

Congratulations!
I just purchased a used 91 coupe that was owned by a USAF pilot who bought it new when he returned from the Gulf war.
It was well maintained but still needs a few things and has 108,000 on the clock.
I have owned an 86 coupe, 87 vert and a 96LT4 vert over the years. As I ease into my retirement years this 91 fits my reduced budget and still has the looks of the later C4 body style.
I do have to admit that the 96 was my favorite C4 though. Enjoy!

I also like White late year C4's.:)

Do more research and looking. Horsepower varies greatly between years in C4. Do you want looks or a Runner or both. Automatics are geared much higher than 6 speeds so the difference in take off would be great. Mileage is better in a 6 speed also. After studying C4s for a while I believe 92 was the biggest horse power jump. So I stayed looking at 92/s on up 6 speed and convertible were also on the I gotto have list. I almost bought a nice auto convert but I am glad I waited it out. When the wife and I drove up to see the one I bought( and I had seen pics before I left)in person it looked almost like my 70 Corvette about the same color and the same white top. and sounded good also. I knew it was mine. After test drive and inspection I told the wife i was going to buy it. She said I knew you were going to buy it as soon as i saw it. She says I have seen the same look when you bought the two GTO"s we have now.
