So as you can tell by my posts and join date, I'm brand new. Not yet a Corvette owner, but as soon as the truck is paid off, I'll be in the market.

I'm a military reservist on active duty based out of Western Mass, from the winter / snow thread that I read all 16 pages of I'm wondering... I was initially thinking that I wanted an 02 Z06. Some of the reviews and user opinions I have read have led me to believe that because it has a tighter suspension that some of the roads up here in New England would be miserable with that; the potholes and the ice ridges in the roads and etc... Am now thinking that maybe a C5 coupe (reading that it has a looser suspension) would be the better way to go, that and being able to take the top off during nice fall days would be a bonus.

If anyone could give the rookie some thoughts. Thanks

First, welcome to the CAC.

I have owned both a 1997 coupe with automatic transmission and a 2002 Z06. Both were daily drivers. I think that it depends on what you want. I was not happy with the automatic, and traded largely for that reason. And I thought that I might as well get "the beast" if I was going to trade. I have not regretted that decision at all. My Z06 serves quite well as a daily driver. However, my wife does not like the Z06 as well. It has less to do with the ride quality and more to do with noise and transmission smoothness. If you are OK with a slightly less civilized car, I would recommend the Z06. But if you want a less "rude" car, then the coupe would be better. I will also say that I have owned several cars that would wear me out when I drove them on road trips. I have not found that to be a problem with the Corvette. A long trip is really no problem at all. I plan to drive to the CAC Cruise Fest in Bowling Green this summer. It will be 4200 miles round trip. No problem! :D

Sprotscar = convertable
Of course that's here in sunny Calif..........just my .02

The real truth is , any Corvette is best. :D :w :w

Check out a 2003 Anniversary Edition coupe or convertible with F55 MagRide. Or a 2004 with F55 coupe or vert. You get the best of both worlds as far as ride is concerned with a MagRide car. Both of my Vettes are MagRide.

The Z06 would have more go and better handling, of course.
