After installing the Depo projector headlights I really liked the amount of light they give off and could actually see at night. What I didn’t like was the clear plastic lens covers. I did a search of other sights and there were some good write ups. So I took a little from this one and little from that one and this is what I came up with. All in all there’s about 4 hours work and it really changed the way the car looks. Sorry the pics are not that great.

Man those look great! I have a hard time liking the clear ones too, I stopped contemplating to do it ...until now. That's super!:thumb

It looks really nice. I'm assuming your masked off and painted the inside but did you use an X-acto knife to cut the masking tape to expose the clear section?

I actually painted the outside. I masked the area that I wanted to remain clear, I used 1/8" fine line tape then 3/4" 3M masking tape. Sanded the clear lens with 1500 then 2000 paper, 3 coats of primer with a primer made for plastic, then black base coat then clear.

Thanks for the quick response. Now all I have to do is convince the wife to let me spend $$ for the lights. I recently installed the low profile lip spoiler from Mid-America without telling her. The bad part....she was home with FedEx arrived....I wasn't. :boogie

ah man i know this is a prette old thread, but i'd love to see the mod that has been done on these light. my girlfriends vette has these headlights and i personally get irritated by them.. the plastic lenses have interior cracklines and the chrome is just not my thing. they also don't fit properly and have uneven gaps.

not working pictures ftl. anyone else have these depo non flipup head lights? anyone got pics or tips on modifying them so they look decent.

i'm considering taking them apart. color matching the chrome housing, polishing out the crack on the interor parts of the lens, and taking a hammer to the metal brackets to get the healights to sit lower.. any suggestions?
