Hey guys, I thought I'd mention this since we have so many Texas guys here. It's a little short notice, but I forgot about telling you guys until today. ;help

There is a large exotic/luxury/muscle car meet in downtown Dallas this Saturday (the 29th) at 6pm, followed by a burlesque show at 10pm. This seems like a great event to me because of the location being very central. I'm not sure how many cars are expected, but the parking lot can hold hundreds according to one of the participants.

Full details here (via Ferrarichat):
Save the date for the first of the year Exotic Car Night. March 29th, 2008. We've moved the event to a new little place in downtown Dallas called Cafe Rembrandt. Car arrival time is between 6:00-7:00pm - for meeting, greeting and drink specials. We are currently working with the owner/manager on a buffet - we'll update you on that later. They have a full menu, and all their food is excellent. They also have a full bar, and a very good selection of imported and domestic beers.

Entertainment later in the evening will be The Velvet Kittens Burlesque Review. They perform a spectacular Burlesque show (don't worry, no nudity- or sorry, no nudity). The Kittens performed there during the downtown Mardi Gras event and the place was rocking, with people hanging over the balcony railing and screaming. You will not be disappointed!

The Kittens have also agreed to get there early for picture taking with your ride.

Cafe Rembrandt is very easy to get to from either big city, next to the Victory Park area by American Airlines Center. It has a large parking lot, a large patio overlooking the large parking lot, and other establishments within walking distance for those who like to wander.

The cost for the event is $0.

there are no hidden tip fees for anyone - not the girls, not the Event Staff help.

The event is expected to have mostly Ferraris, however, owners of Vipers, Lotuses, Porsches, Muscle Cars, Aston Martins, Maseratis, NSXes, Lamborghinis, Panteras, and Ducatis were invited to come as well.

Anyone can come and drive anything they want, it is just a matter of where you get to park. :) We will have four Event Staff to keep the parking lot free of Winabego's - they will guide you on where to park - and will watch over the precious ones in the parking lot.

You may start arriving at 6:00pm. The Velvet Kittens will be in the parking lot at 7:30pm for pictures and photo-ops. The Show starts at 10:00pm.

Cafe Rembrandt will have an Italian Style Buffet available (I believe it is about $20.00/per person), if you don't want that, they will also have a grill going outside with Burgers and Hot Dogs with all the trimmings (much cheaper than the Italian meal, I don't know the price yet), and of course a terrific selection of beer and booze, or any other beverage you want.

I believe "winabego" is anything deemed not worthy of being parked there. Hopefully when I go they'll at least put me next to the Vipers...

Brandon, looking forward to the pics :cool Hopefully you are not rolling in the Rolla' :ugh That might be a bad thing :crazy

Anyone else from Dallas/FW going :w

...and then there are the Velvet Kittens - Don't let 'em scare ya :beer

Yeah, I'll be sure to post a lot of pics! Maybe Shopview or the owner of that gray C16 will get wind of this, show up, and teach those German and Italian fans not to be so smug. ;)

Hopefully I'll be going in one of the Camaros, but if worse comes to worse, I'll go in the 'rolla and park with the other winabegos far, far away from any cameras. :L

I'm completely off topic now, but I'm too proud not to mention it. Our cars were featured in Camaro Performers magazine I just found out today! :upthumbs

Though I don't quite know who this Brendan guy is. :crazy

Reminder: This is tonight! :booger

I'm going to bring my video camera probably, so I'll try to share some video. :)

:ugh Rain...

and too short of notice as we already had plans but have fun and take pictures

Neat story :cool

Like the part of the C8 at the end, now you have to make good, since it was printed :w

How come no pics w/ Pamela and Desiree w/ their pride and joys ;shrug

I wish I had known abut this sooner;shrug I would love to make it and check out some of the rides. It sounds like fun, but I already have plans too:ugh Brangeta, take some good pics and videos:upthumbs:w

Shopview-- one of these days we'll have to coordinate an event we'll both attend. It's just a shame to live so close to each other and never meet! I don't pay attention to when Corvette clubs meet, so just let me know when you plan on attending something. :upthumbs

89x2-- I'll make good on the C8 someday soon hopefully :). After going to this exotic car meet, I can tell ya, Dallas is in desperate need of diversity! F430s and 360s are definitely cool cars, but there's just not enough panache!

I think a C8 would help make up that which is lacking. Sort of how the Callaways, Vectors, and just plain unusual stuff really MAKES the Cars and Coffee meets in California. We need to get some "WTF is that?!" :eek expressions on peoples faces here in Dallas.

jrose7004 and Ezmunie-- I'll make sure and post event details earlier next time. This is a new location for Exotic Car Night (the old location was Carson's Live in Addison) and I didn't know if the parking lot would accomodate a high turn out of Corvettes, so I only posted it in the Callaway section. The parking lot was HUGE, so I think a big Corvette showing wouldn't hurt. Is there a section I should make the topic in so you guys know about it too without having to read the Callaway section?

------------------------------------

The show had a really good turn out. It could definitely use the word spread around a bit better though on the non-Ferrari message boards. The Lamborghini, Aston Martin, and Lotus showing was pretty small! I was really surprised by some of the guys who showed up in expensive cars. In particular, a guy who showed up in a blue Viper GTS and a guy in a black F430 were barely older than I am. No way were they in their 30s...

I mostly took video, but here are a few pictures to tide you over until tomorrow.

The Vipers, Aston Martin DB9, and Lotus Elise

Me and the Velvet Kittens. If you look at my face, you can tell I'm thinking "oh my god... I normally don't let anyone touch the car" LOL

Yeah, they had love for the Camaro, even in a sea of Ferraris, Porsches, and Lamborghinis :)

The Velvet Kittens gave m a bit of the WTF, but it looked like you had things under control :D

For some reason, I knew they'd love the Camaro :cool

Thanks for sharing the car pics :beer

Brandon,
Thanks for the photos-look like you had the entire situation in hand with the lovely ladies. Dallas can be a pretty good place to see some sharp cars. Until a year ago lived in Frisco-visited last weekend and there was a little car show in a Tom Thumb lot. They had Ferrari's-Vette's and star was a new Aston-Martin Vantage. Great area for car watching.:)

Well after all, you did say velvet didn't you? ;LOL

Thanks for sharing the pictures. Looks like some really nice exotic cars showed up.

You know, that's definitely true! The weird thing is, some of the really diverse cars just don't show up to the events! Aston Martins, Rolls Royces, Bentley Continentals, Saleen S7s, Panozes, and anything "old" just doesn't show up. I can't believe there wasn't a 308 at the event for me to drool on! Though there were 3 328s. I think the event needs some additional PR to get the word out. :D

callaway4fun-- Where did you read A E N? I'm not sure who it is either. :confused

Here are the rest of my photos. I'm having wireless problems today, so I resized the pictures significantly smaller.

I'll upload at least a clip of the Velvet Kittens for you guys in awhile. I have to transfer the Hi8 tape to the computer and then go through it and find what I want to include in the video, which... if any of you guys are familiar with the process... it isn't nearly as quick and easy as pictures or some of the newer digital video camera methods. :ugh

No idea on the transfer of video, but the pics look pretty cool. :cool Quite a few Winebagos though ;squint:

...what time did the Velvet Kittens drop you off this morning :chuckle :ugh ;LOL

Here's the video I made. I originally had the cars included more, but the program crashed in the middle of saving and my file got corrupted. I didn't want to start over, so I cut a lot out. It got a little choppy, but I got tired of working on it.

The red Countach and Ferrari 512BB are in it more than any others, but I'm fairly certain most of you won't notice the 512BB in the video unless you watch it a few times.
