This morning, my MPG on the DIC started bouncing all over the place on my drive into work this morning. Typically it is between 24.6 to 25.2 but this morning it was going as low as 4.2 and as high as 30.5. 1999 C5, half tank of gas and fuel mileage hasn't been reset in months. Car driven once a week to work (80 miles rt). Will check into it further tonight when I get home but wondered if anyone had this issue before. TIA

Are you sure you weren't on instant MPG?

Thanks for the reply, had me thinking that I might have been too, but found my negative battery cable loose and all seems normal now after tightening it back up. Makes me think that someone was messing with the car. I typically only drive it once a week in winter and it usually sits locked and covered in my driveway. Noticed that it was unlocked when I went to drive it yesterday and just figured I forgot to lock it up the last time I drove it. I know when I changed the oil last November, I torqued the cables just to make sure all was right and no one else has driven the car but me. Dogs woke me up at 3am Sunday, barking, so I think they may have heard someone messing with the car. House across the street is kind of a group home for wayward souls, owners are 7th day adventists and have people down on their luck staying there for short periods so that has me wondering. Spoke to the home owners last night and asked if they had heard or seen anything lately, told them that I thought someone was messing with my cars, but made no accusations. First time in 25 years living here that something like this happened. Probably be another 25 years before something happens again. :)
