I'm thinking they would not let me drive a Z06 unless I signed the financing first. :cry
If you were near Idaho, you could drive mine. Virginia is a long way away!

My Z06 is a daily driver. It is the only car that I own. My girlfriend has a BMW 330xi, so I drive that once in a while. I am quite happy driving my Z06 every day. I had an old beater for a while, but when confronted with the choice of beater vs Z06, the Z06 always won...

.....Hubby was 100% for me getting this car - he wants me to be happy. :D Plus, he loves the car as well.
So WHY is it that Hubby doesn't buy the car?? ;LOL

Hehe. While he likes the car, he's a 66 Chevelle freak. If he's going to spend any money for a car of his own (the TA is mine, the Avalanche is his..) it would be that. Nothing else. 66 Chevelle SS. Quite an awesome car in it's own right! ;)

If I had purchased the Vette, he'd had driven it on ocassion...when I needed the extra seats the Av has and he woulda loved it. But for his own, nah. Got to be that 66 Chevelle.

where you at in NVA? have a 2001 Z I could let you drive - course, I know not new like 2004 you are looking at - live near Baltimore, if you are interested

Well I have to agree, the classic 66 Chevelle SS is nothing to sneeze at. My wife and I visited the Muscle Car Museum nearby in Sevierville, TN a couple months back and I was really struck by a very rare '69 Chevelle. It was a 300 Series Super Sport with a stout big block. Here are a couple shots I took of it.

Totally restored and unfortunately not for sale, there's no telling what this little puppy is worth. :D

Cherie,

You should drive a Z06. Just to know that you've explored all the options. The world needs more female z06 owners. Like DRTH said, you just have to get over the lack of the removable top. When I was researching the Z06, I was disappointed about that. It took me all of about 10 minutes to get over it.

I bought it for the sheer, utter, visceral thrill of all that power and performance. Love that M6 tranny too. (only owned 1 auto transmission car in all my life too. It STANK! :L)

Yeah BV, I DO change my own oil. Got ramps and know how to use 'em. And I defeated my CAGS myself too. How 'bout you? :L

MsSchroder is da bomb!

Ms.Schroder, you are a classic!

If there were a Z06 competion where you had to install rhino ramps, change the oil, and install CAGS you certainly would likely take first place in the competion. This would be a competion in which both men and women take place. I would place my bets on you all the way that you would be victorious!

As for me, the only thing I can do is open the hood and look? Maybe add a little oil and that is about it. I would be a fool to compete with you in such a competion I described.

How did you learn all this stuff? Is this a requirement in living in the state of Georgia? Does Heidi know how to change her oil in her vette? I would say she does? Am I right? :L My hat goes off to you. And yes, there needs to be more female Z06 drivers. Perhaps you can start a club or something. I have seen quite a few Z06's here in Corvetteville and not one of them had a female behind the wheel. I was about to say something else and caught myself, but I will save that for a private message to you! HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA :L

You should give classes for Z06 owners and the next cruisefest. Sign me up!

If it weren't for the fact that I'm addicted to convertibles, I would surely own a ZO6!! However, because I have to have a top that goes down;) , why don't we have a club for women who must have standard transmissions!! I'd be the first to join!:cool

I'd be second! Gotta be a manual, or I'm not even remotely interested. When I went to drive the Vette, the mgr came out and said, what transmission did you want? I'm sure I gave him a blank stare for a moment while I processed what he said...a manual of course! It's a sports car! ;D

Looks like I need to get myself into a Z06 and see what I think. That model is a bit out of our price range at the moment...so I'm thinking of waiting til early next year and then seeing if I can find one that's languishing on a lot somewhere and get myself a good deal. heh heh

Oh, and I'm all about getting something that garners attention ;)

You don't have to get a NEW Z06!

Price is important. Can't argue on that one!

But you do not necessarily need to get a brand new Z06 to get the identical same effect. Z06's came out in 2001, but the earliest I would obtain is a 2002. It has more horsepower and all the bugs were worked out. This would certainly be in your price range as well, maybe even less.

I would add this to your list of options! Good luck!

I have owned a 1991 ZR1, a 2001 Z06 and now a 2004 coupe. The ZR1 was a trip to drive and as fast as the 2001 Z06, maybe faster. The ZR had 61,000 miles showing and I decided it would be better to trade for the less expensive to fix Z06. My 04 is a wonderful luxury sports car, but it does not have the feel of my other previous cars.

I also have owned a few Porsche automobiles. Although I liked my Corvettes I loved my Porsches. Kinda grows on you until it blossoms into a love affair.

Hopefully when my 04 is paid off I'll get a turbo Porsche and die happily.

No disrespect intended to Corvette owners.

Larry

Webgyrl definitely also try a ZR1. More agressive looking and a sweet powerplant.
