Hi all,

I was just wondering if anybody knows what the weight is of the official GM differential lube. The GM stuff costs $7 at corvettes of Houston and it is a ways to drive, but Oreilly's carries the Penzoil 80W-90 oil for $3 a quart. Just wondering if it's essentially the same stuff.

Thanks,

Russ

Any quality differential lube will get the job done but I do buy the GM additive. Can't help with the weight. I don't have my manual here.

Thanks guys,

I have already added 1 bottle of additive and I'm going to add another. I was told to get the Penzoil or other top-quality product of 80W-90 weight, but I read of someone using synthetic Amsoil at a weight of 145 in the rear. That weight kinda through me.

Don't even THINK about 145-weight anything; good old 75W90 or 80W90 will work just fine, or the GM lube; you'll need the GM Posi Additive in either case.

thanks guys!!!

I guess I'll just get the Penzoil. I know it's only a savings of $12 but it's the principal. I hate to pay just for a name and not for quality. :)
