Help! differential oil leak

just noticed i have an oil leak from the left hand differential output shaft. is it possible to replace the seal without removing the diff ?

I've looked at my '81 and if there is I cant figure it out...

No, it's not.

there are clips retaining the stub shaft in the rear end so the back cover needs to come off just as easy to drop the whole thing steve
