Digital Cluster in the dark

I will try to make this short. I had the starter replaced in my 87 Coupe. The mechanic said the old starter was OK but he changed it anyway since it has a lifetime warranty. He replaced also the positive cable that runs from the battery to the starter because it was bad. The car starts fine. When I got home, the rear hatch did not open when I pressed the switches located at both doors and the console compartment. So I started taking out ALL the fuses, one by one to check for a blown fuse. All were OK and the hatch started working properly (loose fuse????). Now when I switch the ignition to the ON position, the digital cluster will not light up. The Driver Information Center (brake, battery, low coolant, check engine, etc.) lights up but the Digital Cluster does not light up. It is completely dark. I tried the hazard/turn signal and hi-beam indicators and they work. I cannot imagine what went wrong since the cluster worked fine when I left the repair shop. The problem arose when I checked the fuses as described above. Can anyone tell me what went wrong???

Check your 5AMP LCD fuse in the fuse box. They blow went getting put back in sometimes.

If that doesn't work, Ill tell you all about the two grounds........lol
