The light seems to be broken, my digital dash still works, you can cleary see it during the daytime, but at night... i have no idea how fast im going, how much gas i have, ect. Whats the estimate on how much this costs to fix? Thanks

The lights are replaceable in the dash. Simple bulbs. Just remove the cluster cover with a phillips screwdriver, and there are 4 bulbs under those little metal covers.

Thanks, this will definately help me diagnose the problem, and possibly fix it myself.

With the help of this forum and it's members I took out the digital dash and replaced all of the bulbs including turn signal, high beam . . . on my 84 - it turned out great - just take your time, and have patience when you attempt to take the digital dash out.

You should REALLY consider replacing your haligun bulbs with Stanley ones - the haligum are WAY too hot and will eventually melt into the computer board inside your digital dash. I recommend by them from:

Use the Stanley 7073 (3.5 CW)– replacement bulbs for the 1989 Xenon Bulbs The original 882’s have 3.8 CW - but are very, very hot

http://www.kbsproducts.com/ 770-932-0867 has 7073’s

Also, send me your e-mail address and I'll send you detailed instructions including graphics how to do this on a 1984 and similar.

Good Luck

DASH CLUSTER-BULBS

I JUST REPLACED MY BULBS VIA WAL-MART, GE # 891 HALOGEN @$6.86 , GE# 37--TURN SIGNALS $1.74 FOR 2. HOPE THIS HELPS OUT. JON

Thanks, MuskieMike and Mr Dark (and SpaceGoat for starting this thread). I've had the annoying problem of the dash going dark on my 84 ever since I bought it 1 1/2 years ago. Tapping the face has sometimes brought it back, which seems to indicate a bad ground (which is verified by the referenced web site). It seems like a fairly easy fix.
