"Quick" is cool. Where was the taken, under an overpass? :cool

At Suzuka. Take a look at the track map I provided and you'll see that the track overlaps itself. It's considered one of the "hero" tracks with good reason.

I've watched races from Suzuka before, but I particularly liked that shot. :upthumbs

Beauty, eh? What is that, like 750 horsepower? :cool

Bullitt, here's a Ferrari for ya! :L

It's hard to say where Renault's (formerly Bennetton) output is, but I would bargain that it's within the 800hp range.

Thanks for the "Ferrari." Insomniacs need to laugh, too. :L

That is a small engine. Less than 200 cu in, I assume. It is pretty much the same design as an engine that our Vettes are familiar with? Just different specs?

Thanks! :D

Yup, the specs are different - especially in dollars; the teams that don't build their own engines lease them, for the paltry sum of $20 million for 18 races :eek

:eek That's a lot of money! You ever get into the design of those F1 blocks, John?

Its an extremely competitive sport. And they definitely push the engineering envelope.

I start the laugh when they put "budget" in the magazine. Racecar Engineering.

Well, the smaller teams do face "budget" issues and this has come up over the past two years as a serious talking point in the sport. It's more politics than racing, but the former does affect the latter when teams have to drop out mid-season as witnessed by Arrows' pull-out in 2002. That was quite disappointing considering the progress their chassis was making over highly financed, yet poorly managed teams like Jaguar, BAR Honda and Jordan. The Arrows team, led by Tom Walkinshaw, exemplified hard work and dedication, but never got to see the extended fruit of its' labors due to financial strains when it could not afford to keep it contract fulfilled with it's engine supplier Cosworth and even thier own former drivers. Arrows is now under receivership.

However, for other teams the new season is already under way with development now heading to high gear for the 2003 season. Toyota has unveild their new TF103 yesterday, an evolution of last year's car.
