Question, the standard radials (speed rated) that I replaced the Run Flats with make a big difference in the way it rides and the noise level is great. I want to jack the air pressure to the right pressure to get even tread wear. The seller and the installer want me to run what it says on the door. That's nuts, when you consider the side walls are not as heavy. Is the tire on the Z06 run at the same air pressure as the run flats? How can you tell when you have the right pressure in a tire before you see a bad wear pattern?

Check with the tire manufacture for PSI on your car. I would think they would know best.

I would think if it's properly inflated that the sidewalls wouldn't matter. It only rides on the sidewalls when the pressure is low enough. I use the sticker pressure for my Bridgestone Potenza S03's on the FRC. They wear nicely.

Talked to my local Corvette specialist today and he reiterated the recommended tire pressure of 30psi cold.

I ran Gatorbacks, GSCs, BFG Comp TAs and BFG KDWs on my 90. You certainly can't mess up your tire wear by following the sticker, but you can impact the way the car tracks and feels by adjusting the pressures.

Although the door sticker said 30 psi all around, I used to play around with the tire pressures (in moderation) till I found settings that best suited ride/handling and did not notice significant impact to wear patterns.

What best suited me was 36psi front and 33 psi rear (cold). I run a bit lower during cold weather. There is a very noticeable difference with the higher front pressures. While there is more of a tendency to "track" with tire paths in our worn out highways, the overall feel is better. I also prefer the lower pressure (softer) in the rear. She feels more stable, especially on our roads.

I run similar pressures on my Z06.

Thanks

Thanks Tedster, that's the kind of impute I was looking for. Right now I'm running 34 on the front and 32 in the rear. Feels good there and it lost that mushy feeling under hard cornering. The tire manufactures help was to "go by the sticker" as was the installer; my guess is that they will not attempt to advise anything different for legal reasons. As for tire wear, I'll just have to see what happens, 30 PSI was just not working, car felt like it wanted to get away from me too often. My other vehicle has 215-75-15 tires on it and it has 35 PSI on the sticker. Going by that a different size, type, use, or constructed tire can and does have a required pressure to do its job properly. I think I also need to check out the Mustang and see what they run for tire pressure, their tire is close in size and is used about the same.
