I went outside this evening to shut the windows on the Vette'. I don't see the need to start the car just to shut the windows so I just switched the key to the on position to shut the windows.

I noticed that when I was shutting the windows; the tach was going way up to 2600+

I don't think that's normal is it? :confused

Nope, that does not sound normal - at least to me... I never the see the tach moving when the key is at ON position. I wonder what may be doing this??? I will check this when I go home today.

Was the tach only registering when you were actually moving the windows? There's a filter on the line from the distributor to the tach to help weed out unwanted electrical "noise"; possibly this filter is DOA? Or maybe not grounded to the block any longer?
Just a guess...

I am not sure if my tach moves when I turn the key on or not. If it does it will light up then go away really quick. It is odd that I dont know for sure, I will check and let ya know.

Mine will jump all they way up then come back down to 0 like the spedo and the other gauges. Does it read out ok when your driving the car?
