1972 Shark Nose Coupe
I own a 1972 C3 (Shark-Nose) Stingray and I want to update my wheels. I put a C4 ZR1 upto the hub and they look nice but there is a clearance issue with the steering. Or does anyone know where to get ZR1 style wheels for a C3? I would like to go with either a 17" or 18" all the way around.

You have to use spacers with C4 wheels.

What is a "Shark Nose"?

Actually, you can't use wheel "spacers" because the difference in back space is so large. You've got to use a set of wheel adapters.

Spacers just space the wheel out and use the existing wheel studs.

Adapters bolt to the hub using the existing studs but have a second set of studs to which you bolt the new wheel.

Vette Brakes and Products makes the wheel adapters I used to fit a set of stock C4 ZR1 wheels to my 71.

Tires that large also bring another problem...clearance. You'll have to modify your fenders to get the ZR1 tire package (275/40ZR17, front, 315/35ZR17 rear) on a C3.

Shark nose

Shark nose is a custom front end that takes the lights out of the top of the nose (like the Mako) and puts them where the grille is then it's all fiberglassed in.

I have C6 Z06 style wheels 17x9.5" with 2.5" wheel adapters and 275/40 ZR17 tires all around. I also have VBP offset trailing arms, no fender modifications, and no clearance issues with this wheel/ tire combo. I have the ground to center wheel well lip height set to 26.5" front and 27.5" rear.

OUCH! - sorry, don't mean to offend anyone - I believe in keeping things as original when it comes to the older cars.
