I just got mine last night and have watched the DVD but haven't had time to read the manual. Car is great! 6-speed, Z51 and all options. Does it automatically lock when I walk away?
Thanks and any other cool tips would be appreciated.

Almost

Yes, as long as you do NOT leave a transmitter in the vehicle.

That's correct as far as it is stated, but if you don't put your shift lever in reverse (6-speed), set your emergency brake, and have the windows up it does not lock when you walk away. Also, anyone can now get in it and drive it away.

As Dad has shown in another thread, the statement in the owner's manual which says "the keyless access transmitter must be in the vehicle for the ignition to work" is not correct.

With the previous generation C5, if you took your key, the car was not able to be started, even if it was not locked. That is not the case with the C6 and its "fob."

Auto Lock...

Unless I'm mistaken, you have to specifically set this option using the "Option" button on the dash. On my C6 it was not set by default, so it DID NOT lock when I walked away until I set it.

Personally, while I prefer not to always have the 'chirp'; a positive indication that the car is locked, I want definite feedback that this expensive vehicle actually did what it was supposed to. Maybe the best is to just habitually use the fob button to lock it.

Enjoy the learning curve LW!

i set mine to honk the horn after i walk away to let me know its locked, i love the heck out of this car..

So did I. I like the peace of mind to know it locked. I also changed the DIC display to say "Hello Bill" when I start the car... Pretty neat huh :cool

Bill :w

Horn off

Mine also says "John", but I turned the horn off and now it just flashes the amber lights when I walk away. So I am reasonably sure it is doing what it is supposed to do.

I don't know, that might freak me out.... I'd think those darn voices in my head were coming back!! :W :L
