Does the engine need to be pulled on an LS1 Coupe in order to swap the camshaft? Or, is there an alternative that takes less time?

HIthere,
This is something to NEVER shortcut.
Remove the engine, heads, front timing cover, and then change the cam.
NEVER remove the cam, without removing the heads first.
Internal pressures within the block with the heads torqued, causes changed in the block. Also, per GM document 241154, heads are removed first.

c4c5specialist,

Thank you for the reply. Is there any chance that a URL is available for the GM Technical Bulletin (241154)?

Remove engine or not

I've seen it done both ways. The only thing is if you don't remove the engine, remove the heads and everything in front of the engine, radiator, shroud etc. complete strip of the front engine bay. It is probably easier to remove the engine by the time you get everything off.

HI there,
I am sorry, but that is GM service information on the web, and I cannot release this to the public.
If you have a service manual in paper form, it will be there as well.
