1980 turbo L-82
I have a factory prototype L-82 Turbo that has been on display at the National Corvette Museum for about 2 years, and they would like me to donate it to them to keep on display. They will give me an appraisal, but I wonder if anyone has experience with the NCM appraisals, or if anyone has an idea what it should appraise for. The car can be seen with some info on markali.com/turbovette. Thank you for your help.

We noticed that in the museum when we were there recently..
very nice...
was this the only one????or were there more prototypes built???

L-82 Turbo Prototype

I have seen pictures of a fuel injected turbo built by GM, but this L-82 has a blow through carb (Holly), and I have not seen another of these. I have a Corvette book: Corvette Chronicles, that says several were made, but was not specific as to the exact number. My best guess is there were some that didn't made it to the street.

Several weeks ago I saw what might be one of the Phase I C3 Turbo Vettes. (One of only 2 or 3?) In rough shape, but was driven to a cruise night I frequent. Owner did not let on that his Vette was that special. He was probably toying with me.

Maybe you could find an appraiser who has experience with Vettes. Mecum Auctions might possibly be able to help you.

That fuel injected turbo is a nice looking car, I have never seen it in person. There are probably more prototypes hidden around here and there.
