Well what started out as a Great Day taking delivery of my new C7 Stingray today turned out frustrating by the time I drove up into my driveway! The C7 drove and handled Great on the way home. Pulled up into the driveway and when I parked......the driver door would not open. Ended up having to utilize the manual door release handle to exit! Not wanting to drive back to dealer where I purchased my new Stingray my salesman advised to take it to the closest dealer......Well the service department was closed......the salesman was less than helpful with an attitude so off to the next closest Chevrolet dealer. They were much more helpful.....they said that they had not experience this issue and that I would have to bring it back on Monday and leave it; thinking that it was an electronic issue and that they will attempt to reprogram the vehicle.

To sum it up.....everything worked fine while at the dealer......drove the new Stingray 30 miles to my home (which by the way was Great)......then frustration set in! Now that I can't open the driver door; my new Stingray is sitting in my garage until Monday.....the who knows; how long at the dealer.........I certainly hope that this is just a small glitch and the this is not the beginning of more to come!

if any of you other new C7 Corvette Stingray owners have experienced the same problem; maybe you can chime in so that when I take my new toy to the dealer this Monday, that I can let them know. If no one has experience this issue.......Stay Tuned.....I'll keep the forum updated

I wasn't aware there is an electronic door opener. Is it a button? If so, where??

Talking about the electric door latch button on the inside door panel and the outside door handle. When I try to open the door from the inside the window goes down approximately 1/4 inch then backup.....door does not open.

Gotcha. The window down thing makes sense... New cars are sealed tight enough to need that in order to allow the doors to open.

Hey Tom,

Please do keep us all updated on your door opening concern. I have not heard of this being a concern yet and am interested in the resolution.

If there is anything I can do, please PM me.

Thanks,

This morning woke up and the driver door was working again so this afternoon I took the Corvette out for a spin and then decided to pair my phone........after the attempt to pair the phone again the door would not open. I tried unlocking the door with the door panel lock; no luck and had to use the door release latch to open the door. Then decided to try to unlock using my key; door working again. (at least for now). As a matter in fact now that I am thinking about it, yesterday when I inspected the Corvette prior the actual purchase, everything was working fine. After everything was signed, the salesman went outside with me to get everything set up and paired our cellular phones (the Corvette was running while the salesman was setting everything up). I never turned the vehicle off and when I finished with the salesman, I drove the Corvette home and it was when I pulled into the driveway that the door would not open (even after trying to unlock the doors via the door panel switch and lock switch). This was the same thing that happened today after trying to pair my phone.

Now I noticed that when I open the driver door, engine off, the dash lights and the center information center come on. When I close the door the dash lights and center information center go off. All of this without starting the Corvette. Can anyone tell me if your Corvettes do the same? I am still thinking that there is a software issue. Going back to the Dealer tomorrow morning and hope to get some answers and hopefully a fix. Yesterday the technician actually came out to the service desk and was interested in getting his hands on the Corvette. He mentioned that they have not had any of issues and was looking forward to trouble shooting. Personally, I would rather keep my baby and drive it

I just got mine also but am sure the interior lights do come on when I open the door and got out after a delay when I close it. The lock issue is very odd. Will be interested to know what it is.

Hi Tom,

I am glad that you have found some correlation between the events. How did your dealer visit go yesterday? Was the tech able to trouble shoot your concerns?

The Dealer had decided to have me bring the Corvette in today so that they would have their senior Corvette specialist work on it. They have eliminated that the issue has to do with the pairing on my Galaxy S3 phone (which was what they along with the engineers at GM had thought it would be). GM is still thinking that it is a software issue and they don't want to start changing parts until are certain. They sent all the issues to GM engineers and advised that it would take at least 24 hours before they get an answer. So looks like my Corvette will be staying at the Dealer for them to resolve the issue. I guess the only good thing is that at least they (Dealer) are not taking this issue lightly and have the GM engineers involved.

I'll keep everyone posted on the progress. I am sure that I will not be the only new C7 owner that will experience this issue. At least if any other C7 owners experience this issue; they will not have to go through the same mental anguish that I am at this point.

Door Unlatching Issue Resolved.........

Got a call from the Dealership (who have been very good) and the door issues have been repaired. GM Engineers and Dealer Techs discovered that one of the modules were defective. They are putting the panels back together and ready for pick up this afternoon. I drove the corvette for two days after delivery then at the Dealership for eight days while they have been troubleshooting the door issue. I'm saying a prayer or two that they found the actual issue and I will finally be able to enjoy the new ride.............I will keep everyone posted on the results.

When I pick up the corvette later today, I will post what module was actually defective, in case anyone else experiences the same "door not opening" issue; considering that the new C-7's are so new and that the dealerships are having a hard time trying to diagnose issues..................

Thanks for following up, Tom.

Out of curiosity, how does your paint look? I expect you've likely read the other thread re: orange peel... :ugh

Overall the paint looks good. Just a small area of orange peel on the rear driver corner panel............

Small enough to ignore or are you going to ask them to redress it?

I'm taking it to the dealership this Saturday to have a few things done. I plan on having them look at it; however since the orange peel affected only a small area, I'm not sure that I want to take a chance of them not being able to blend everything in...... I'll keep you posted.
