Has anybody installed new door carpeting, my door panels are in great shape but the carpet sucks.

I'm just looking for some tips or how-to's on door carpet installation, seeing as I just ordered them, as well as new door window seals.

Well I re-did my door carpeting and my carpeting was good so I used an iron and steam to soften it up and reglue it. I couldn't budge it until I used heat.

Great tip, but drivers side is toast, the bottom edge is crumbling apart

My carpeting was great, but the upper panels were cracked, so I got used panels with great uppers and bad carpeting... so had to swap them. The carpet was stapled all around the back edges, and it NEEDS them to stay on. I used a heat gun to carefully remove the old carpet, then high-temp waterproof glue for glue-backed carpet and vinyl flooring (from Home Depot) to fasten the new stuff on, and then used a staple gun to restaple the carpet edges down. It's hard to find staples short enough not to go all the way through the door, but it's possible...

Oh wow I did'nt realize they were stapled down, oh well more staples to deal with.

I also ordered new window seals I believe the outer uses rivets and the inner..... Hmmm I just realized that when I placed the order this afternoon they asked if I wanted the staples as well, I said yes, I wonder if this was for the inner window seal or the door carpet.

Thanks Rich.

Staples for the door carpet, the window seals will come with three rivets. The old ones will have to be drilled out. Take your time, it isn't too bad of a job, and the window looks much better when done.

Don't drill out the rivets instead use a dremel tool to grind the heads off. This is much more easy to do!
