New door panels and complete rebuild of the window assemblies are in store for the Silver Beast this year... My first inclination is Al Knoch for the panels. Any thoughts one way or the other out there?? Other places to look??

Thanks in advance....:beer

I agree. Al Knoch is hard to beat for both quality and price. He's also a nice guy to deal with. If there is any problem with any of his interior pieces, he'll make it "right". Chuck

Ya know.. I have to say this about AL's stuff

I was not impressed with the new seat foam I recieved for my C-4.. and was a little miffed about the "quality"..

But I know seat foam isn't a big deal, and you don't see it.. but the underwire had VERY sharp ends that were to long.. that would have EASILY sliced through the new leather covers... so 20 minutes later I did what thought would be good saftey mods.. and recovering I went.

This was my first ( and so far my ONLY) order with them.. but it was enough to spook me.

Thanks for the input.

Thanks folks. I dealt with them once previously when I recarpeted a couple of years back and was quite satisfied. Door panels can be another issue, however. Hence my request for input.

I can not comment on the door panel purchase.I can say that all of the stuff I have gotton from al knoch has been top shelf and it was a plessure to deal with them! I have done other cars before and have gotton some shabby stuff al knoch stuff was EXCELLENT

Now for the bad news.

When I originally did my car I never did any work inside of the doors,I just removed what I had to to have the car painted then just put it back together. This summer my daughter was having a hard time exciting the car the latch would not rellise easey.

I totally disasembeled the entire working of the inside of the doors and soaked the latching mecanism in a 1 gallon pail of carberator cleaner
WOW You would not belive with no scrubbing or hard work.
The 30+ years of grease just melted out.The door now opens and close as well as a new cadillac,I also replace my window felts and rubber nuber at top of the window track. It was alot of work (nothing hard just labor intensive) and I enjoy the results of my work every time I get in and out of the car.

Door Rebuild

IH2LOSE:

That is exactly where I am going with this job....complete rebuild of all the interior mechs, felts, rubbers, etc. I have had the doors off a couple of times, and the panels off more than that for one thing or the other. The driver's side window crank is nicely Bubbaed, so its time to do them, with warmer day coming. Thanks for the input.
