Gone but not forgotten

Although All American Racing now has all their financing and necessary approvals to begin construction on their facility. One minor obstacle remains and is being worked on at the present time.
All American Racing already has a 5 year agreement (Resolution # 2002-111) in place to lease 20 acres from the City for their project. However in order to guarantee their financial investment in the track and to keep it operational for years to come they have opted to purchase the land instead. This is the reason why track construction has not yet started as of December 2004. Due to the fact that the City owned land (20 acres) was bought with an FAA grant, a process is now taking place to return the grant money back to the FAA ,so that the City can legally dispose of the land, or in other words sell the land to All American Racing. Banning City Manager, Randy Anstine said, "We want to get it done as quickly as possible."
According to the division office of NHRA, “they are pleased to hear that things are moving in a positive direction and look forward to the opening sometime this coming year”. Charlie Neilson, also added, “ NHRA organizes a number of programs at the grassroots and sportsmen levels that would be ideal platforms for implementation at the proposed facility”. He also said “another series conducted by NHRA that may consider the venue as a potential home is the NHRA Lucus Oil Divisional Series.
So what’s the next step? Andy Marocco says the next step is the same step they take everyday. “Just taking care of business. The details of that business is proprietary”.
When pushed as to when the track will be finished Andy Marocco said, “ With the holidays upon us and busy schedules, its hard for me to give an exact date, because I’m very optimistic and I’ve been that way these past four years through the process. So rather than giving an exact date let me just say that it will be coming very soon in 2005”. Stay tuned!
