Went to the drags on the weekend and my quickest after the 3.54 gears was 13.7, I was hoping for a 13.5. I beat an STi 4 out of 5 runs and they are AWD and 300hp. I ran a late 90's Stang with a very nice sounding cam and beat him all 4 runs. I ran about 14 times and only lost once, so not a bad night. I guess I better start saving for my heads and cam if I expect to get into the 12's. That better be fast enough but who knows.

Nice runs. Heads and Cam will make a huge difference. You may have to get your ECM retuned after that though.

My experience is that it is never fast enough. :D
Well, maybe for a month or so.
Thanks, fred.. Great work; enjoyed hearing.:w

sounds like it's running good if your beating STi's and cammed Mustangs :D what altitude are you at?

I don't have a clue, the tracks at Grand Bend Ontario and it's on the shores of Lake Huron. I would be interested to get a sea level adjusted time.

The airport at Grand Bend is 640 ft. above sea level. I don't know how to do the calculations, but I know Mic will. Hope this helps.

P.S. Lets not hijack this thread, but Mic I enjoy your C-4 posts.

To get a true corrected you would need temp, humidity, altitude.

I don't know the calculation though.

Good Job. Beating an STI is no small feat. Usually they run around 13.1-13.3. Drag Racing is an art. You may not have the faster car but if ya cut a good light and your opponent doesn't you can still beat them. Great Job.

i'm glad some read what i post :D all you guys that hear me talk about DA here is your quick lesson :D

here is what i use to get the corrected altitude and with the formula i use.

to calculate DA i use this calculator.
http://wahiduddin.net/calc/calc_da.htm

and good ole http://www.weather.com to fill in the blanks :)

then for every 1000 DA subtract 1 tenth down to sealevel and thats what you would normally run. for every 1000 feet less altitude = 1 tenth or .1 quicker.

lets just say if it is 95 degrees when you ran at 640' with an barometer of 28.80" and a dewpoint of 94 degrees (hot and very humid/sticky) your looking at a corrected altitude of 5055' and by my calculations your 13.7 went to a 13.2 which would put you right on par with a new STi.

it also works backwards. so now you know what you are running at sealevel....

so now you run a 13.2 at sealevel in good air. what if you get sub basement air like i get at 200' alt? lets say you are running in 45 degree air with a barometer of 30.77" Dewpoint at a dry 35 degrees now your DA comes to -1019 which means now your knocking on 13.0's using 640' for your base altitude. here in the mid atlantic we see sub basement DA as low as -1700+. if i didn't have MAF/Fuel problems i my new times woulda/coulda been a 12.7 @ 108 mph

don't quote me on any formula's. they are my own and can not be copied. they are up in my head and the only way i know these things is cause i know them. i am no rocket scientist/mathmetician/genious, just part redneck :gap been around racing all my life. :beer

My local track is at 2600 ft, but I often hear a corrected altitude of 6000 ft. Now I see where that comes from. That would put my 12.4 to 12.6 seconds into the 11's at sea level. Cool! I had always figured 0.3-0.4 seconds. I like your numbers better.

DRTH see what the NJ boys are running with your setup and put my redneck calculations to use and see what you would be doing :D

Fastest Yugo in the country.

I must have figured something wrong. Acording to my calculations my Yugo station wagon just ran a 5.6 quarter. We normally use a sun dial to time the little bugger!

Better living thru chemistry.
