Anyone have this problem, i can no long pull my belt out, maybe it has something to do with the 'cinch' button. I wanted to take the cover off but i dont know where to begin (tight spot with no exposed screws).

You need to remove the seat...remove the seat cusion by reaching under the front of the seat and pushing the wire towards the back of the car...then lift the seat cusion out... then remove the four bolts holding the seat to the floor, unplug the harness then take out the entire seat. Now you have simple access to the belt. This all should only take about 10 minutes.

What year is your car?? There is a recall on the belts and your GM service center will repair this for free. Mine did the same thing on my '89 and they replaced both units. :Steer

I called the chevy dealer and gave them my vin and everything. They said they checked the GM database or whatever. According to them there is no recall and by no means will they do it for free. They want $120/hr (hah), so i said my good-byes.

I dont know if i should pursue working on it myself, b/c ive read about the recall in event of the belt jamming in the retractor.

Thanks guys, ill take the info provided by c5d to the dealer and stick it down their throats. Well.. as soon as this hurricane lightens up.
