and 9 degrees...:w Thanks Canada...:mad ;)

We don't snow here at the beach in the Carolinas, but its really cold. about 25 now, went downt o 19 last night - but it may not climb above freezing here and that is very very rare that it doesn't rise above freezing at all.

Anyhow, i was going to take my Vette shopping today - I am sure IT could handle the cold, but I can't!

I actually got out to drive mine right before the cold snap. It is freezing here, although it is 19 now. What a long winter it will be.

I was going to put mine to bed for the winter and stop the insurance until spring to save $$. Until I found the classic auto insurance from a thread, here. Now the insurance is so cheap, I can drive the car year round and on sunny days this winter. I fugure it's best to drive it around a bit this winter rather than let it sit. Don't think I could wait until spring anyway.
Drove through 2 ft of snow in Mich City yesterday before highway closed-- not in the vette! Although followed some poor guy in a Miata trying to get through.

Ours is in bed already. Had the front end repainted, new lenses. She looks like new. Friday was a beautiful day but controlled myself and drove the Jeep instead. On Saturday saw a C-6 out in the freezing rain. Must be someone who doesn't care about salt etc. I know it's fiberglass but still. Seems ashame to have it out in that kind of weather. Especially when the roads were getting slippery.

Thanks,

Donna

i drove mine to work on friday. put the top down for the ride home. aint vegas wonderful!!!

Frame is still steel and the suspension is aluminum, that has got to look ugly after you get salt on it. I just put mine away today, still got to take it out on Sunday.

Goodnt , what is the insurance you have ?

Mine is temproarily sleeping till the snow clears probably in time for the weekend. It is better to drive them than let them sit. I just wash mine down once a week with the hot pressure washer and all is good.

Goodnt can you steer me to the classic auto insurance you mentioned? I have a restored '55 Chevy Belair that sits in the garage all the time, I drive it about 6 times a year or maybe to work when the Vette is in the shop but I carry full coverage on it and I think I can do better.

Thanks......................Bob

scav & Bob,
I have insurance from American Collectors Insurance (www.AmericanCollectors.com). I got quotes from several and they all seem to be around the same. They charge basis the agreed value of the car and limit the # of miles you drive annually. In my case, the policy limits me to 2500, but I probably won't get near that. Unlike some others, these guys will quote you at different levels of comprehensive deductible. My rate is about 1/4 my old rate and because it isn't breaking the bank, I can keep driving year round (weather permitting in the upper midwest, of course) instead of putting to it to bed. Good luck!

I had the collectors car insurance once but found it too hard to keep the mileage down on the Vette. I too had a 2500 mile limit but I cannot control myself with that car and have put close to double that this year on it. I went with my normal insurance company and I got a good deal so I am happy now there are no restrictions.

I've had a number of policies w/Classic Auto Insurance carriers over the years. For the past few years though I've been with Grundy's Worldwide. I've found them to be very competitive with their premiums, I pay a total of $235/year for full coverage on my '67 Mustang convert and '90 Olds Toronado. They provide for "agreed upon value" with proper documentation (pictures), but best of all, they DO NOT have a yearly mileage limit!! Also no hidden "gotchas" that I know about, such as the reference above about the vehicle being out of sight. Anyway, check them out. Their offices are in Horsham, PA @ (215)674-1856.

Oops, almost forgot, the premuim will increase of course when I add my Corvette this Spring out of storage. Was quoted $250/year for it.
