Hope someone here can help me. My passenger side vents are only blowing hot air, not matter what settings I use. Is there a DIY fix for this? I'am mechanically inclined, but don't want to tear into the Vette with no clue what I'm looking for.

TIA,

JnJ

HI there,
It could be your passenger side actuator for the temperature.
Disconnect your negative battery terminal for 5 mins, and reconnect.
See if this changed the condition, if it does not, you will most likely need the actuator.

Thanks, I'll try that. If it is the actuator, is this something I can replace myself? What all is involved?

Thanks again,
JnJ

I'll vouch for this. I had the same problem a few weeks ago. Everything was working great on my car, until one of the plug wires popped off (my fault). The arc'ing of the coil must have confused the computer.

I disconnected the battery for about 20 minutes, and reconnected it. Supposedly the actuator goes through a full travel calibration(?) or something when it is first turned on after a power interuption. I had HVAC error codes before I disconnected the battery, now everything is working fine and there are no error codes.

I have seen more than one C5 with this problem that was easily fixed with a simple battery disconnect.

Edit - You also may want to check to make sure your battery isn't leaking acid. It can burn through your HVAC vacuum hose that is directly under the battery (in addition to your computer). This also is a common problem with non-AGM battery C5's.

Thanks, I'll disconnect the battery after work tonight and check to see if it is leaking also.

Made it over, I see.;) Hope this fixes your problem. Let us know.:beer

Well the disconnected battery did not work. I guess I need to replace the actuator. Can someone tell me where it is located, is it behind the controls?

thanks,
JnJ
