I have a '74 L82. It is surging as I hit over 40 mph. A buddy and I just did a tune-up, the dwell was set at 30. I was told this car should be set higher...and that may cause the problem. Any help would be greatley appreciated. Thanks, Jim

For mine, the dwell angle range is 28-32 degrees, where 30 degrees is recommended.

Surging is normally fuel mixture or fuel starvation-related; check/clean the fuel filter and check the float level. 30* dwell is fine, assuming you set it BEFORE you set the timing (dwell affects timing, timing doesn't affect dwell).
