does anyone have any ideas why my 84 just wants to die in heavy traffic? When it gets warm or hot .it seems like its starving for fuel .could this be right?
Not an easy thing to check fuel pressure on a Crossfire.
Heat issues are hard as it can be so many things. It is strictly a water temperature? Is the slow drive in traffic or idling part of the problem? Could be the HEI module, a sensor, or a heat-related vacuum leak, or fuel, like the need for a rebuild of the TBs.
I did a rebushing job from a kit for my old TBs which was rather easy to do. If the throttle bodies have never been rebushed and have lots of miles, they can leak air through the shaft holes, which will be more noticeable at a hot idle. the kit included a drill bit and brass bushings, filling the crappy metal, stock holes that hold the butterfly shafts. They wear and leak after a while.
