Just arrived today. What kind of HP & TQ can I expect from a stock L-48 with the addition of the headers,Performer intake,Summit HiPo 50,000 volt distributor,Holley 650,K & N filter,Flowmasters(I have stainless Magnaflows now,too quiet)..after I complete the true dual exhaust:CAC :_rock

I've been told,by the 1 mechanic I asked,that the Performer cam I got with my intake,is not the best choice.What is?:confused :eyerole

I've heard that Edelbrock is good stuff. I plan to match the intake with the Performer cam and heads, which are set up to work well together. A good moderate pick which will noticeably increase the get up and go.

I'm sure other setups can get you more it's just amatter of what you want. I want a little more power in my street machine.

I just know the stock 180 HP figure is not where I want it.I dont want to get too radical,or affect streetability. But I do want more respnsiveness when I hit the pedal.I'd also like to improve handling,a little later,in the form of poly bushings and composite springs.Gotta make more money:crazy :CAC

I'm starting to piece this together and figure I need the headers and some Stage 8 locking bolts. I also need a gasket for between the header and head and am getting the impression that I need to go with either Mr. Gasket Ultra-Seal Exhaust Gaskets or Earl's Header Gaskets.

I've been told "Percy's'dead-soft' seal-4-good"aluminum header gaskets are the way to go.Theyre made of maleable aluminum and are blowproof & reusable. I'm going to order some from Summit,I think...thing is,I have to choose between sm.blk.Chevy round or square-which is it??

Don't know for sure. I've read elsewhere that they are round because the recommendation was to match the gasket to the round header opening rather than the square exhaust port.

Thanks,I dont know & havent heard that.I need to know when I order the header gaskets, cuz they list both openings for a small block Chevy.Guess I'll call a auto parts dealer.

headers

i put a set of plain jane hedmanns on my L81 and cut out the cat and went true duals BIG diference in performance i also tried the corvette central off road mufflers they were too tame made the car sound like a sedan. so i put monza tips on it WILD you can hear me fire it up from a mile away and you will know when im behind you lolol:cool :cool :v

I have no cat either. The reason I decided to spend the extra money on the ceramic coating(Dynomax was the best deal),is that I wont have to screww around later with rusted out headers, and they supposedly keep the engine compatrment heat way lower than w/o the coating.I need to complete the forward part of the exhaust to dual, though. I've got stainless Magnaflow mufflers now-need something louder w/ performance in mind...of course it'll probly be louder with the headers installed?
