ECM Change

Well, finally it is time to work on the Vette.
Some time ago I read that a common problem was a battery that goes dead because of the ECM. This car has had someone hacking the wiring because the battery sometimes goes dead.(good battery) The radio has been changed,(cut wires under the dash) Horns wired wrong(one green wire to ground) fan jumped to run all the time (so as to stop overheating)
As a result, I would like to start with a good ECM, and rewire all that is wrong. What is the recomended ECM, and where do I get one?
Thank you to all who respond. Al:w

Well I'll tell you what I did, I purchase on ECM on E-Bay, It was rebuilt, but in somewhat good condition too. I must admit that I never know what I’m going to get when I buy there, this had a little damage but the price was good. The best part was that it cost me about $45.00. After that my car ran much better and it proved that my original ECM needed to be replaced.
Now I am thinking of having the old original rebuilt and put back in my car. And keep the other one as a spare.
Instead of EBay, MAM and Ecklers also have refurbished or rebuilt ECMs.

I agree Ebay is a gamble on used electronic parts.
If I needed a new ECM, I'd get it from one of the Corvette parts suppliers. ;)

I think you can get a rebuilt emc from most auto supply houses, such as
NAPA-AUTO ZONE.
