ECM for Engine Functions Only?

My mechanic has a spare LT-1 engine (removed from a Corvette that got destroyed in an accident) and wants to use it on an old vehicle. The engine is complete with its accessories. He needs an ECM that controls only the engine functions and nothing else. I am guessing O2 sensors and such will not be managed by the ECM he is thinking of. Is there any ECM as such in the market, and if so what is the part information?

No, not a stupid question Selim, I just don't have an answer for you. The LT-1 ECM is surely different from the ones I had. Notice I said had - I just sold my speed density unit yesterday, and also threw in the stock one figuring I wouldn't need it anymore. In any case, they were different from the one you seek.

I believe that Ron Francis Wiring can build you a harness and burn you the chip as well as supply an ECm for your custom application. There are others out there and you may want to do a cyber search for custom wiring harnesses or custom automotive electronics. Guys with street rods do this all the time so it is definitely possible.

Holley makes a ECU the Commander 950 their tech support is quite good also
click here it says you need a crank trigger for the LT1-LT4

I am very happy with mine on my 76 it can be tuned by laptop and does not require a custom burnt chip.

The ECM from that car is not available? I'd have grabbed the ECM and the wiring harness.

I saw parts of the wrecked car a year or so ago, I guess all that remained from the car and would be worth to keep were the engine & transmission. Last time I went to the shop was a week ago and it is now only the engine. The shop owner (my mechanic) is a really nice young fella. He normally builds cars for drag racing, does complete overhaul of old Americans and such. But I spoiled him by getting him a set of floor mats for his Corvette free and now he does all sorts of things to my car

Again, he wants to make use of the spare LT-1 on a car / truck / van, something I don't know and he needs a basic ECM for that. I will give him the info about the Holley Commander 950.
