Edlebrock intake questions

I'm looking to add an Edelbrock Performer intake manifold to my 1974 L82. Question is:

a) in your opinion, will I benefit from putting a Performer intake on a stock L82 engine (with headers), but doing nothing else?
What I want is just some extra torque/bottom end power, any thougts welcome.

b) Whats with the EGR valve? For Chevy SB, the Performer comes in two versions, 2101 (non-EGR) and 3701 (w/EGR). But the 2101 has a block-off plate, that can be removed for adding an EGR valve, right? So what is really the difference, which of them should I get to use with an EGR valve?

c) Is there a height difference to the stock manifold?

Hi Johan,
Yes, the intake will give you a small power increase since you already have headers. But not on the low end. This is a mid-range intake. The 2101 has no egr and no boss for one. The 3701
lets you use an egr but not the one you have now. You will have to change to a mid to late 70's non-corvette egr valve.
The egr allows you to run a little more timing. Other than that it's an emission device. If you don't have any emissions testing over there, visual or tailpipe, it's not worth the extra money. Also if you decide to go to an AFB style carb you will have to buy the egr adapter.
The intake is taller than stock but will fit. The performer rpm intake requires a drop-base air cleaner.

To me it looks like it has a plate that cen be removed if you want to use a EGR valve???

Sorry, I realize the difference now after looking at pictures of a 3701.

But the text in the auction must be wrong?
