Late, but here's a :thumb to you. Hope you had a great day! The "new" Z looks great!

Happy belated birthday wishes. Just out of curiousity, why did you purchase an 03 Z06 rather than an 01, 02, or 04? I am curious as I would like an 04 model myself as I really like the C5 style over the C6. I know the 04 has a wider windshield pillar and the carbon fiber hood, but where there other factors involved? Hope you enjoy it immensely. BTW, when I was visiting the AF academy's officer's club several years ago, the club's commandant had a blue 03 Z06 in parking space. It was spectacular!

Hi Barrett,

It really came down to finding the right car more than a specific model year. Actually, it was a balance of miles/condition/money. But isn't that the way it is with all cars? :L

Not all the 04's have a carbon fiber hood, only the Z16's do.

I was actually looking at C6's at first as I wanted something with the 3LT package (heated seats, HUD, etc...) but the prices were still higher than what I wanted to pay. I then looked at the C5 Z's and saw some good cars and even looked at LT4's.

I had agreed to buy a '01 Speedway White from a guy down in Dallas but he couldn't come up with the cash to make up the difference on the balance. The original motor was hydrolocked and replaced with a 405HP LS6. He had also upgraded to a B&B exhaust. It was a nice car but he just couldn't swing the finances.

I'm more than happy with my '03. Already ordered a bunch of stuff for it:

rear rotors/pads
Blackwing intake
Power Duct
motor oil
trans fluid
gear fluid
brake/clutch fluid
Column lock bypass

It's going to be a busy weekend!

I don't see too many Corvette's around base. I have seen a couple of C6's, one of them being a Z. I think the drivers were all officers.

You CAN'T be serious! ;LOL;LOL
Hell, when I was 30, your birthday was STILL 3 years away! :boogie
Don't like 30? wait till you're 63, and THEN revisit that thought.:boogie
Anyway, :birth Edmond, I hope you enjoyed it as much as you do
driving the new Vette.
Andy :w
