I'm going in for emissions testing later this month and I'm changing out the EGR because it's the original. The plugs, wires and fuel filter were changed two years ago but I'm going to check them anyway.
When I finally pulled the old EGR off, there was a lot of carbon buildup on the valve at the bottom. I'm assuming that it isn't good anymore. I'm going to take it in for testing next week and see if it passes. I may also take the charcoal canister off and examine it to see if it is still functional.
The EGR bolts were a bear to get to. I did not take the runners off but I thought about it. I saw that I would need to take the valve covers off in order to take the lower runner bolts off and I didn't want to replace the valve cover gaskets because I'm going to 1.6 roller rockers in a few months. It was tough but I got them off and the new EGR on.
