Not real sure what else might be connected to it but it is connected to your dash brake light. It is part of the brake failure warning. This is what it was on older cars, if I am wrong someone will correct.

Thanks Glenn:beer
Is it then a warning of Low brake fluid in Brake Master Cylinder??

Had to check my manual to be sure I had this right. From the Helms manual.

The pressure differential warning switch is designed to constantly compare front and rear brake pressure from the master cylinder. The switch turns on the warning lamp in the instrument panel "ON" in the event of a front or rear system failure. When the proportioning valve is moved off center due to a system failure, the switch will latch in the warning position. The only way the lamp can turned "OFF" is by repairing the failure and applying a moderately high pedal force.

I believe this is what that switch is , on some cars it is on the proportioning valve.
