The main Elec Fan on my 84 stopped working. I've checked all the fuses and even replaced the fan and motor. Still nothing. I've been working on this basket case for about a year and just had it running super. Is there something I could easily check, as I'm pretty much a rookie under the hood, or take it in. (shudder)

Thanks,

Does the fan come on when you put on the AC? Relay is located on the wheel well just below the brake master cylinder...with a DC volt meter make sure you have 12 volts at the dark blue wire with the key on. Then shove a wire beside the green/white wire to ground...see if fan works...if it does the coolent temp switch in the block is the problem. Or you can remove the wire from the coolent sensor and ground it. Or just replace the relay for 10 bucks along with the sensor for another 10 bucks...The parts in your car are getting elderly. (Cars and dogs have the same age calulations)

I'm going out of town tomorrow but I will try this as soon as I get back next week. Thanks again.

If you wind up replacing the temp switch, get a lower temp one...I know there's a "on at 200 off at 185" switch readily available, though I don't know the part number.

One thing to check is the wire from the temp switch to the relay (green/white). For some reason that wire seems to break alot.
