the lights flickered for a min before all systems went dead.

after putting the car in park, it started right up but i could see the interior lights were not very powerful- and when i turned on the headlights the interior lights dimmed.

I had the tensioner replaced recently with sparkplugs: filters(full fluids/filters and injector cleaning) were all done a month prior.

Since then the engine has been idling roughly(sometimes when i step on the gas it seems like the engine wants to stall) until it has been running for a couple of minutes. I am suspect of the distributer, but can't help thinking perhaps the tensioner and the new belt were not properly installed, especially reading a post about the change in pully sizes.

i was hoping to get some insight before i go on the warpath ;)

thanks

Something going on with the alternator or battery. Low voltage getting to the car's electrical system will cause all what you're identifying. Check the new belt of course, then battery and alt.

Get a look at the tensioner to ensure it is in the 'range' shown on it. The belt will be quite taut.
