1990 Corvette. I have just recently started experiencng an intermittent electrical issue. The heater control panel and stereo appear to share the issue, both work intermittently. Any suggestions? Thanks in advance.

This is a problem that you will have to narrow down some more. Most likely a ground issue. Do they both go out at the same time? Unfortunately until you check some wiring, and some grounds you wont really know. It is easy enough to gain access, it may be a case where a wire has rubbed some plastic piece and become exposed.

Good Luck

I agree with Vetteboy86, fixing an intermittant electrical problem is going to take some troubleshoolting. I would start with the electrical schematics/circuit diagrams in the FSM(helms manual) and see what the commonalities are and then the scutt work begins. If you don't logically troubleshoot an electrical system you may end up going around in circles.

The good thing is the electrical systems on these cars are relatively simple.

There is a big difference between the Factory Service Manual, and a Haynes manual. THe Haynes manual is far more simple, and more generic for all C4's. If you are intrested in your car, and like to work on it, invest in a Factory Service Manual to do more involved jobs like this one. I purchased mine from ebay, and it was well worth the 40 bucks. Without this manual, you will probably have a difficult time finding your problem, unless it is apparent to the naked eye. So do like mike said and look into a Helms manual. Either on ebay or www.helminc.com

Check for a common ground, then check that ground

By intermittent, do you mean sometimes they appear to not being receiving power, or that the buttons do not work, but the units are gettting power.

If it's not getting power, check for them sharing a common ground, and then if so, or even if not, check those grounds (clean/retighten).

If it is the buttons not working, there is a rubber membrane behind the buttons that has carbon 'buttons' to contact the gold points on the further behind circuit board. You'll need the FSM/Helm manual to disassemble the console & dash to be able to remove the units, and then very carefully disassemble and clean the carbon buttons and the circuit board (very gently).

hope this helps..
