Help! electronic ignition

just bought first 79 vette and learning..how to tell if electronic ignition..

Your 79 has an electronic ignition system GM called "High Energy Ignition". The ignition module is inside the distributor cap and the coil is mounted in the top of the cap.

You can tell it has electronic ignition when you remove the distributor cap and see there are no breaker points inside.
