I have found a place that repairs the bose speakers and radios, I have found places that overhaul lights. I am looking to have my Electronic Climate Control repaired. I know I can just buy one, but I have been searching for a place to repair my controller. I can buy one remanufactured...so why cant I just have mine remanufactured instead of buying one remanufactured?

Any help would be appreciated

Thanks, I have emailed this contact and hope he can help. He seems to be more into dash cluster repair, but I am hoping he can link me to someone that repairs this part.

So far no success with this issue if there is anyone out there that can help... I looked in Hemmings Motor News and found no repair centers listed. I have contacted Corvette Central,or America I can't remember, regarding who remanufacturs their climate control panels for them...they list the ones you can buy are remanufactured.

There is a place some where around here in IL that I think it's called D&R or something like that they repair radio's and dash clusters maybe they can help.. I can't remmber what town they are in I think it was Carol Stream..

hmm I will look but I will also be keeping your email and phone for some help some time.

Well it is a good thing that I have a degree in electronics. Thanks to the Air Force for that. I never concidered opening the unit and checking it out. I do know this about the system. The controller sends a 5vdc signal to a module located near the fan. That 5vdc signal is a variable voltage depending on blower fan speed desired 5vdc being max fan. At the module the 5vdc signal causes the module to vary the 12vdc to the fan 12vdc being max fan. The problem I am having is that I am losing the 5vdc from the controller causing the fan to operate intermittantly. The GM manual simply states to replace the controller. If the voltage is present and the output to the fan is faulty then replace the module. My problem is in the controller....so I thought I would have someone more competant than me repair the controller. I contacted corvette central or america about their reconditioned controllers they sell. I have yet to see what GM wants for one. I cannot find anyone that even sells the module. I have found plenty of places selling the parts for the C60 which includes a relay and other parts.

You could give Southern Electronics a try. Their website is www.instrumentcluster.com

Their focus is electronic clusters and radios, and I believe they also repair controllers and the like... check them out.
Hope this helps ya

Thanks, I have contacted southern electronics to see if they can help or direct me in a good direction.

If you want to have your controller repaired (re-maunfactured, your word), what is really the difference in getting a reman unit ready to install?? Unless you pick a shop with the necessary technical info reagarding the controller and it's operation, most electronic repair shops may not have the information to do the job correctly.

One of the most common problems with the C68 controller is poor electrical contact between the wire harness clip and the contacts on the board. Have you cleaned the contacts? Even rubbing the contacts on the board with a pencil eraser will help remove any contaminants that may be causing a poor connection.

The reason GM recommends replacing a bad unit is that it is much more cost-effective to the customer to have a replacement unit installed than to take a lot of labor time to trouble-shoot any problems and perform necessary repairs to the unit. Auto repair shops (dealer or independants) typically do not have the trained people to do this type of work.

You're probably right. I don't know... for some reason I thought it might be cheaper to have mine repaired, but I think I am wasting time more than anything. Corvette Central contacted me and their reman units are completed by GM. So I will have to purchase one from them.

Thanks for all the help
