New here. I have recently purchased an LT4 engine with all accessories and computer from a totalled 1996 Corvette Collector Edition with 24000 miles. The engine had been stored inside for 9 months and I plan to bring it back to life in 3 months by installing it into a newer S10. (I hope you-all don't consider this to be "sac-religious"......I know how Corvette owners can get....I use to own a 58, 62, and 65 many moons ago)....Anyhow; I have some questions as to preventive measures I can do to preserve it's internals, etc. I have drained the oil and removed the filter.
1) I assume my next move is to fill an oil filter with Mobile One oil, install it, and add oil to fill line on dipstick....right?
2) Should I remove the spark plugs and hand-turn over the engine a few times?
3) Should I squirt any oil into cylinders before I hand-turn over?
4) I will change T stat to 180....this way I know the old one won't "stick" closed.....Do you think the Water Pump will be OK?
5) Anything else?
thanks
