I was wondering if there is a source that shows the blueprint of corvette engines? I was looking to see if I could find a blueprint for my '76 L48. Something that would show what kind of cam, heads, crank, etc. that makes up my engine. I thought it would be helpful for future upgrades and repairs. Any help would be appreciated.

CHAD, go to the General Restoration Discussion site in CAC. then go to the thread listing FREE RESTO PACKAGE. make the call get the package. it may not give you all the engine specs you need, but will give you many needed details.
to build or upgrade your motor, there are several books for doing chevy small blocks. read, read and read some more. you'll find alot of different ways to build up your car.
i recommend looking at the edelbrock cam, carb, and intake package. that will get you started

For '76 L48 this is close (as in about) but not exact by any means:
Block: 2-bolt Mains, deck height about 9.025", 4.000" bore.
Crank: Cast Iron, 3.48" stroke.
Pistons: Dished, 4 valve relief Cast Aluminum with about Negative 10cc volume, about 1.54" compression height, about 0.045" down in the hole.
Rods: Press-fit pins.
Cam: Hydraulic lifter, lift (I/E) about 0.390"/0.410".
Heads: Cast Iron with about 76cc combustion chambers.
Valves: 1.94" intakes, 1.50" exhausts.
Valve Springs: single with damper, about 80 lbs on seat, about 200 lbs open, max permissible valve lift 0.480".
Intake Manifold: Cast Iron to fit only spreadbore carb flange.
Carb: Rochester Quadrajet 4 barrel, flows about 750cfm, spreadbore flange.

Check emissions laws /regs in your area first before changing anything.
Because a 76 has extremely restrictive exhaust ... True dual exhausts will make a very big difference. Because the L48 cam is such a wimp ... even a mild cam & hyd lifter upgrade to something like Comp XE268H or Summit K1103 or Crane 113941 will also make a big difference. Your carb & intake will support either of those cams. In addition to robin's reading advice, Best I've heard is start with a clear budget ... plan from that ... stick to the budget.

Thanks Jack, Robin. All your information will be very helpful for my future projects on the Vette. It's nice to have a website such as this to be able to comunicate with other individuals such as yourselves. A thanks goes out to Rob for that. Thanks again, Jack and Robin for all your help. :)
