I recently was given a price of $75 to have the engine on my 93 pressured washed & sprayed with a glossy coating-- like the ones you see @ your local corvette store. Will look just like new i was told. When i asked them about the chance of getting the optispark wet & possibly ruining it, they said it never happened before but they would not replace it if it did go out. Anyone had this done & any problems???

I'd talk with a couple more detailers and see what they say. Pressure washing an opti motor is a :( :(

IF YOU DO THIS YOU WILL HAVE A '93 THAT WILL NOT RUN!!! DO NOT DO THIS!!!!!

Yea, I had the idiots at the oil change place about to spray mine as an added service/bonus.
Kid was clueless as to what he was about to do.
Told him he would be sorry - he said, we do it all the time to corvettes.. duh!

Water and Optis don't mix! :D

I'm afraid the washing an LT1/LT4 car is best done by hand using as little water and soap as possible and with a rag/brush. I keep my air compressor handy and blow off the excess water regularly.

If pressure washing is the only way to get the engine compartment ready, have a new OptiSpark ready to install afterward!

Hey guys- thanks a lot for all the comments about pressure washing the engine bay. Kinda thought it was not a good idea-will get out the rags-thanks again

does my '85 have one?
Nope, just the 92-96 LT1s. It would probably be a good idea to cover up your distibutor though (which is what an Optispark is anyway)...

Do not ever wash an LT1 with a pressure washer, thats just stupid.

I wouldnt do it on an 95-96 with vented opti's either.
