Hello everyone,

I'd love to see some pictures of engine compartments from all of you! How about some pictures and a list of things you've done to make the engine bay look nicer. I noticed that white Vette with the painted shark on the inside of the hood! That was nice... Lets see some of that pride in your engine bays come out!

Here's a bunch of mine Engine Swap pics 4 1/2 months of work and still not finished.

Also check here for some Tampa area fun! Florida Corvette Challenge See bottom center of the page

And if you don't already know about the OctoberVettes Show see the Southeast section of the forum for details, it's the 11th & 12th. Great show and a real fun time.

Imran,

There are several pics of my engine bay on my homepage. www.mcspeed.com

I found that most shark owners pay very little if any attention to the inner fender wells and firewall. Why? I don't know. In fact, I have seen plenty of NICE engines surrounded by flat black spray paint, overspray, and even undercoating with cracked, fractured, hole punched fiberglass panels.

I am still struggling for that perfect balance and small cover trim to bring the whole package together.

My suggestion to anybody with a shark, especially with the motor out of the car, is to spend some time making the hoses, wires, and inner fender/firewall region look better.

Check my homepage....

Is there a supplier for the mat, for lack of a better description, that goes on the inside of the fenders and covers over the openings, such as where the upper control arms come through to the engine compartment. While my car is far from detailed under the hood, I find that I am having to try and repair this stuff when I would like to just replace it if it can be done at a reasonable price.

Bob,

I believe most catalogs carry the rubber flaps, I have a set of new ones on my car I bought from Ecklers or ZIP about 2 years ago. They were fairly cheap and came with all new plastic plugs to install them.

I hear ya...and I'm an offender of that. I notice mine al the time, but I haven't had the time to do the cleanup. It's towards the bottom of my priorities for getting my car cleaned up. I don't have the luxury of living in FL where I can work on my car all year round... :o :eyerole :D

HEY THAT'S MY CAR

Imran, the white Vette with the shark painted on the inside of the hood...It's mine!
I painted it this last summer after I cleaned up the engine bay.
I like to enter car shows, and after looking at Sooooo many incredible rides (not Vettes) it was just the next step for me.
It saddens me to see so many Vettes at car shows with such a worn engine area, but to thier defense - that's STOCK.
Mine's not, never will be. Over the years, any time something needed replacing (or not)- I went with CHROME, along with some paint, colored wire loom, and Stainless Steel hoses, I'm pretty happy with the way it's turned out.
When I painted the shark, I removed the hood a tied it to the rafters in the garage, it hung there for three days.
It was actually alot easier than I thought it would be, I was worried how the supports would hold.
Getting it back on, well....that's another story.
By the way, getting it off, and putting it back on, is a 2 man job.
As for the shark itself, painting it was worth it. It's quite rewarding to see the smiles on peoples faces when they see it for the first time (you'd be suprised how many DON'T ) but, the best is the kids, when they see it - they RUN to it.
That's cool. :cool

i got a 79 white vette at carlisle this year, I also have a handpainted Shark on the underside of the hood, No pics yet
