Welcome to :CAC

Nah. It's not really high-perf.

The suffix "CZU" is for a 1970, 390-hp 454, manual trans. That's the passenger car engine/low-performance Corvette engine with 2-bolt mains and oval-port heads.

CN 396351 was on all, cast iron, 427s and 454s from the MYs 69, 70 and 71.

The bore for both 427s and 454s was 4.251. What differed was the stroke.

Thanks for the info Hip but I still have a question as my block is a 4 bolt main and has the 427 stroke and iI have a set of aluminum heads casting #3946074 that came on it. I am trying to get a good ID on the whole package and determine a value as I would really like to sell this engine to someone that wants an original number engine for a restoration. As I intend on strictly racing the car it came in and require more cubic inchs. Just can't stand to butcher an original peice for horsepower I require.
Have a 302 small block I can't stand to do this to also

If you've really got a 427 crank and aluminum heads then someone has been inside that engine. It came out of 1970 Corvette s/n 3576. If that car is still around the owner might want his engine back. Other than that, it's just another BBC

The heads might be worth $1-$2K to the right person.

I'm glad you are all able to help the poster with his question, because I just noticed this one is in the New Member forum and tech questions here usually don't get noticed.

I'm going to leave it alone for now... no need in making the move while a discussion is going on.

Thanks guys - let me know if it becomes necessary to move it to the C3 section for a wider audience.
