Engine removal procedure wanted..

I'm going to pull the 427 this weekend, I think there is something going one internally which is why I cant get it running properly. I'm sure its easy enough BUT I would like to have a check list from start to finish(just to remove engine) and any specific things I should wath out for.
Planning on leaving transmission becuase it was just rebuilt this summer along with the radiator.
427x400, 4 speed, no AC, no PS or PB

Take the front tires off and come in from the side. Pulling the engine would seem like a last resort to me. Has the engine passed a leakdown / compression test? What are you looking to find with the engine out that you couldn't find with the shortblock in the car?
 
If you must pull the engine, like Shark said, pull the front wheels you'll want to come in from one of the front corners, not directly from the front. Start with disconnecting the battery, put the car up and disconnect everything underneath the car. I suggest pulling the trans out with the engnie, there's no benefit to leaving it in the car and it'll be easier to pull/install the engine with it attached, especially if it's a manual trans. Also, pull the radiator. That gives you more room to work and reduces the chance of damaging it in the removal/installation process. Obviously pull the hood, I put mine up on jack stands, high in the back and as low as possible (the tires were just off the ground) in the front. Helps give more clearance for the engine coming out and you don't have to tilt it at such and agressive angle.

This really should be a last resort though. I agree with Shark, have you run a leakdown or compression test? What's not right that makes you think pulling the engine is necessary? If it's just running rough and you can't get it to run right, could it be a bent push rod, or burnt valve?? You don't need to pull the engine for that....
 
An engine tilter will make the job much easier if you decide to pull the engine.
 
Engines out.. harbor frieght lift $169 on sale and a leveler.. worked perfect. left the tranny in place. Engines tore apart and builder says it was ready.
Rod bearings shot
valves and seats worn out
too much to list.. hope it goes back in as easy as it came out.
also going with a edelbrock torker II intake and a edelbrock 800cfm carb.
