Roughly, what does a small-block weigh? I hear all the comparison weights (ie, how much less it weighs than a big block), but not just the raw number.

Carb to pan, with iron heads?

With aluminum heads?

Joe

Some of my old notes regarding midyears (from some GM literature I’m sure) say that a HP BB with alum intake and heads weighs only 75 lbs. more than a base SB. Those heads are huge, and the use of alum saves a lot.

If some Dude comments that BB are to/so heavy, remind them that a base SB with Air Conditioning weighs more than a HP BB

Car weight statistics (option affects vs. base '67 300hp 3-speed car) from Chevrolet Engneering:

L68 427/400 - 151# heavier (aluminum intake)
L71 427/435 - 149# heavier (aluminum intake)
L89 Alum. Heads - subtract 73# from L71 penalty
