My wife was driving the 99 today when the DIC displayed a "Charging system fault" message. (that is what she remembered it to be) The message went away and we are still showing around 14 volts so what is this?
Thanks,

Try this!

As you are driving (both day and night), turn the DIC page to the volts reading and see if it is stable (the analog is not accurate enough for minor fluctuation). I've seen it where it would fluctuate by .5 and 1, and keep on going up and down while the car was in constant cruising with no changes of electrical loads.

If this is the case, bring it into the dealer to have it checked out. Atleast they can read the error codes if any.

Nope, but someday.
Hi there,
Another thought on this, is to also have them recalibrate the DIC.
You see, the voltage signal that is being read is not really a voltage signal, merely a sine wave of electricity, NOT a quantity.
So, with that in mind, your c5 mechanic may have to readjust the way the DIC sees the actual voltage.
This should be the first course of action.
